Who we are

Based in the City of Bath (a world heritage site) in South West England, we have an Executive Team with a wide range of successful senior level international experience, alongside a wider group of specialists who work with us on particular assignments.  

 

Executive Team

Frank Courtney
Frank Courtney is Managing Director. He has taught in schools and teacher education and spent over twenty years as a senior officer in UK Local Education Authorities. He has since held senior posts in consultancy organisations and with colleagues set up Merganser Consulting in 2007. Frank’s main expertise lies in education management development at a strategic level and he has advised at national and international levels in various countries and situations.

 

Louise Bonadie
Louise Bonadie is Senior Education Adviser.  Louise has particular expertise in primary education and language development. Following a successful career in primary education she has worked at a senior level in schools and UK Local Authorities supporting teachers in continuing professional development.

 

Andrew Borthwick
Andrew Borthwick is Executive Director of Merganser Consulting and a Board Member.  He has over thirty years senior management experience in researching, designing and delivering education and training in a variety of UK and international contexts. Andy has worked extensively in many countries around the world including several in Africa and the Caribbean.

 

Andrew Camp
Andrew is Director of Courses and has overall responsibility for managing Merganser’s course provision. He is an experienced course leader of courses for teachers and other education professionals, He has held senior posts in schools and in universities and is concurrently a Senior Examiner for GCSE Geography, also acting as a coursework moderator.

 

Nick Schlaepfer
Nick is Associate Director. Nick is a management consultant specialising in public sector reform, policy support, programme management and implementation of all stages of the project cycle. Nick has led and managed several consultancy assignments in the Caribbean, Nick has worked on projects funded by DFID, USAID, SIDA and IDB in the Caribbean, Latin America and Africa.   Nick is also Managing Director of Tobal Consulting.

We work with experienced consultants who are well known to us on a personal basis and in most cases with whom we have worked over several years. Our colleagues all have substantial international experience. They share our values and approach and are highly skilled at implementing effective management change, in cross cultural contexts.
