Much of Merganser’s work is based on a strong international network of individual teachers, education consultants, schools and education authorities. Many of the individual teachers have spent time on courses with us.
We have contacts in almost all European countries, and in many other countries around the world. For several years we managed a government funded project which each year sent groups of teachers on short professional visits to other countries. We therefore have good understanding of the cross-cultural and linguistic challenges in such meetings, and of organising the logistics involved. Teachers almost always found that despite working in different cultures, they had professionally more in common than divided them. Successful teaching of children and young people has many common features in any culture.
Many teachers who have taken part in Merganser courses or other activity remain in touch for several years through social media and in other ways.
We have particular experience in certain parts of the world and, for example, have special experience of working with colleagues in the English and French speaking Caribbean countries. This work has ranged from education management consultancy, to managing group teacher visits and courses. The consultancy work has been funded by various development agencies, whilst the smaller scale work has mainly been funded by national governments.
